The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant or toddler and record each book in your log. The goal is to have read  1,000 books  before your child starts kindergarten.

Reading to children builds vocabulary, language skills, and helps prepare them for the skills they need for Kindergarten. In as little as 15 minutes a day, families can build the skills for future school and life success.

Come to the Olean Public Library to register and pick up your  1,000 Books Before Kindergarten reading log. Or register HERE  and print off  the READING LOG. Once you have read 100 books return the log to the library to exchange for a new one and collect a prize!

Once you have reached the goal of 1000 books  your child will receive a Ready For School Backpack and a book in their honor.
